Every character in DNF Duel, ranking
DNF Duel is the latest fighting game from developers EIGHTING and Arc System Works, featuring a small but diverse roster of fighters. These characters are based on the popular MMO Dungeon Fighter Online. Each of the 16 playable characters is based on a different character class from Dungeon Fighter. They are diverse and feature extensive movesets despite a simplified control scheme. This guide ranks the DNF Duel characters from best to worst. The ranking system is based on the usability and versatility of each fighter.
Striker is a powerful character with a simple move list. Striker fights with pure melee combat. Its ease of use is high as each button is effortlessly toggled on and off. They’re fun to use; Even a beginner can pick them and be effective with practice. Each attack is devastating, and pressing a few buttons can prove extremely effective in online matches.
As you can see from the image above, Inquisitor is wild and can fill the screen with holy flames. Your range is outstanding. Despite how heavy it may seem; Inquisitor can move quickly and is able to fill the screen with all of her special moves. Her two-handed ax can deal massive amounts of damage with just a few swings.
Berserker is the first character to appear on the fighter selection screen, and for good reason. Its weapon range and special attacks are easy to use and powerful. Most of his special attacks can be combined to easily inflict large amounts of damage. Just be careful, as using his Frenzy special move drains his own health to increase his damage output.
Ghostblade is one of the more visually striking characters in DNF Duel. He’s a flashy fighter who uses a Phantom Swordsman to complement his special attacks. Ghostblade is a fun character; Each button has a lot of range. Ghostblade can teleport at will with a simple push of a button, which allows him to avoid getting stuck in the corner.
Vanguard is a solid and capable long-range fighter. Vanguard can jab safely with his spear and create long attack combos. His special attacks can combine into branching moves with the press of a button. His health and attack power are also above average. Vanguard is a versatile fighter that’s easy to recommend for people looking for a strong starting character.
Swift Master is by far the most agile character in DNF Duel. He is a god of wind and has many moves that can reach a full screen opponent. Careful use of its wind powers can keep it aloft for long periods of time. Use his wind missiles to keep a safe distance and frustrate your enemies into making careless mistakes.
Dragon Knight is a pet class that’s as deadly as its baby dragon is adorable. She’s fast, and her weapon is great for long-range thrust attacks. Dragon Knight can use her pet dragon to track almost all of her attacks. This pet allows her to stay safe after most of her special attacks. She can fight characters faster than she is, so keep enemies away to use her effectively.
Kunoichi is a fast character capable of incredible confusion. Her agility can protect her from most performers. Her fire bombs and ninjitsu skills can fill the screen with fire and delayed blast traps. Their ease of use can help players warm up for their complex special attacks.
Trouble Shooter is a character with some easy-to-use special attacks, but why and when to use them isn’t that obvious. Despite his gun, he doesn’t just sit back and shoot projectiles across the screen. He is at his best when he is close to his opponent. Knocking down an enemy and setting traps is the game plan to use Trouble Shooter efficiently.
Hitman is another character with a sword and a gun. What sets him apart from the other armed characters is his use of weapons. His weapon and sword are often used together, which can be confusing at first. Think of him as a swordsman with a gun rather than a long-distance fighter. His moves are robust when used correctly, but the lack of long-range attacks despite his arsenal makes him a difficult pick for beginners.
Lost Warrior is the final boss in story mode and the only hidden character in DNF Duels. To unlock Lost Warrior, you must complete story mode on one character. Once you have him under your control, he’s nowhere near as scary as the boss fight version. He has some tricky special moves, but learning how to use them is daunting. He’s a setup character, and adapting to his playstyle for newcomers will take a while.
Launcher is a character with more weapons than most players combined. All their weapons are weapon variants. Laser beams, rocket launchers and space rocket platforms are in their bag of tricks. These weapons make them very easy to use, but their lack of physical blows can leave them vulnerable at close range. When an enemy closes in range, Launchers can struggle to make room for their attacks to be effective.
Ranger is a character performing his best Dante impersonation. He’s a stylish dual-pistol character with lots of ranged attacks. Every attack in his arsenal is ranged, with some stylish kicks to complement his pistols. Ranger is difficult to use as its combos require a lot of game knowledge and practice.
The Crusader is the resident big-bodied archetype that any great fighter can’t live without. He’s a paladin who would rather use magic than hit someone. Crusader wields a massive hammer, but its range and power are deceptive. The only section of the hammer that can deal damage is the blunt edge, while the rest can be easily dodged. Learning how to use your spells and hammer carefully makes Crusader perfect for intermediate players, but hard to recommend for new players.
Grappler is a powerful melee fighter with extensive command grip special moves. Even his regular attacks often result in grabs. Grappler has good defense and complex gameplay, making it a good choice for players who are familiar with the mechanics of DNF Duels. Grappler is slow and his combo attacks are a challenge to properly execute.
Enchantress is a complex character that can be used at low and high levels of the game. She can summon her demonic teddy bear and use it along with her various attacks. She can also steal an enemy’s MP bar. Learning to control them and the bear at the same time and to cover several meters can prove difficult for beginners. She is also frail and doesn’t have the mobility to keep up with the other minor characters on the roster.
