Eric Bieniemy is expected to return as Chiefs OC in 2022

Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy is expected to return to the team after his contract expires before this season and he hasn’t taken the head coach job.

Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy has once again been transferred to the NFL head coach job. Although he did not receive one of the vacancies, his contract with the captains has expired, meaning it is not a guarantee that he will return to the team.

FanSided national NFL correspondent Matt Verderame reported on Thursday morning both the captains and Bieniemy had met and things “went well”.

In addition, Verderame reports that the captains predict Bieniemy will return to the team and a contract will be signed.

Verderame said in his report Bieniemy met head coach Andy Reid informally.

Bieniemy has received interviews for head coaching positions, with his last being the New Orleans Saints. However, the Saints have decided to choose insider candidate Dennis Allen to replace retired Sean Payton.

Kansas City can’t afford to lose Bieniemy this season, with quarterback coach Mike Kafka leaving to become offensive coordinator for the New York Giants under new head coach Brian Daboll.

Verderame also said that while the Chiefs look forward to Bieniemy’s return, there’s still a chance he could get another offer elsewhere and accept it. Eric Bieniemy is expected to return as Chiefs OC in 2022
