Epic Games has already raised $36 million through Fortnite proceeds for humanitarian aid in Ukraine

Following Epic Games’ announcement that it was raising funds for humanitarian aid in Ukraine, the company announced that it had already raised $36 million. The amount raised so far will include Xbox’s cutbacks on Fortnite purchases during this time, with the total amount also being donated to humanitarian organizations such as Unicef, World Food Programme, UNHCR and Direct Relief.

Following the launch of Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 yesterday, Epic Games announced that all real money purchases from March 20th to April 3rd will be donated towards humanitarian aid to people affected by the war in Ukraine. Fortnite purchases of V-Buck Packs, Fortnite Crew, gifted Battle Passes, and cosmetic packs will count toward the total amount donated during the window.

Epic said in a March 20 blog post that it is not waiting for actual funds to come in and donate after the two-week deadline. Instead, the company says it logs all reported transactions and sends all “funds to the humanitarian organizations within days.”

While only four humanitarian organizations are listed so far, Epic plans to add more organizations soon. So far, one non-governmental organization has said it has already sent 48 tons of medical aid to Ukraine since the start of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
