This year’s Emmy host, Kenan Thompson, headlined UTA’s pre-Emmy party Friday night at the rooftop of the Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills. Intermittent rain made it a wet affair – and the evening’s dampness was not comfortable for those who wore suit jackets. But the rooftop offered gorgeous views (and occasional lightning in the sky) for diners as they enjoyed lobster sliders, flavorful tuna on crispy rice, and churros with dipping sauce. On Friday, celebrities got a glimpse of what the Emmy nominees and winners’ swag bag looks like on eBay and the lounge at GBK Brand Bar at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. With plenty of water stations and oversized fans to help with humidity, press and celebrities alike were able to learn more about the glamorous gifts worth more than $50,000. CAA Party, September 9th
Conditions were muggier than usual and a moderate but steady rain on Friday night wasn’t enough to deter industry insiders from gathering at The Rose in Venice for CAA’s Emmy party.
There was ample latitude in the restaurant’s many rooms, strategically placed with numerous stations for shuffling and delectable morsels served up by the beloved establishment. The frozen seafood buffet and the handmade pizza shop were busy.
The room was packed with CAA customers and many new faces joining Tenpercentery’s agent ranks, also reflecting the acquisition of ICM Partners. were spotted Ho Yeon Jung, Hwang Dong-hyuk, Ron Howard, Heinrich Winkler, Patrick Stewart, Zoey Deutsch, Tommy Dorfman, Sebastian Stan, Chace Crawford, Jon Hamm, Lamborne Morris, Laverne Cox, Charlie Day, Quinta Brunson, Christina Ricc, Jerry Brueckheimer, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Ariana DeBose and Lewis Pullman.—Cynthia Littleton
Television Academy nominees celebration, September 9th
Emmy-nominated actors got the chance to flatter each other at the Television Academy campus in North Hollywood on Friday.
“Where is Melanie Lynsky?” said the “The White Lotus” star Connie Briton When asked who she was cheering for on Monday, she laughed when she realized the “Yellowjackets” actor was right behind her. “To be honest, I haven’t even seen the show. I just love Melanie Lynskey so much.”
Natasha RothwellShe, who is also nominated for The White Lotus, said her plus one for the ceremony will be her 15-year-old manager: “She’s been with me since I was at UCB with beer tickets for a Pabst Blue Ribbon, with a dream.” She also shared that after finding recognition in several supporting roles, the next project to emerge from her contract with ABC Signature will be “a show with me.”
Sheryl Lee Ralph was humbled about being nominated for her supporting role in Abbott Elementary after a decade-long career without Emmys love: “I think a lot of people are offended by that, but I’m not! I’m thankfull. That’s the way it should be for me. If it was supposed to be something else, God would have done it differently. I’m here now and I’m enjoying everything about it. And finally I have a dress!”
your co-star Tyler James Williamswho accurately predicted Colman Domingos Win for guest acting in “Euphoria” at the Creative Arts Emmys, had a new round of selection. “Kieran Culkin [of ‘Succession’]. And I think the cast of ‘Barry’ will do well.”
The cast of “Abbott Elementary” was well attended, with Quinta Brunson, Lisa Anne Walter, Janelle James and William Stanford Davis also walked the carpet while Lynskey was accompanied by her husband Jason Knight (“Raising Dion”) and her “Yellowjackets” co-stars Cristina Riccia and Samantha Hanratty. Later that night, “Succession” stars Matthew Macfadyen and J Smith Cameron dived in and out. Also there were Sebastian Stan (“Pam & Tommy”), Ed Begley Jr. (“Better call Saul”), Laverne Cox (“invent Anna”), Christopher McDonald (“Hack”), Himesh Patel (“Station Eleven”) and Sam Richardson (“Ted Lasso”).– Selome Hailu
