The Philadelphia 76ers rose from the rubble when their “Batman” and “Robin”, Joel Embiid and James Harden saved “Gotham City” from annihilation at the hands of the Miami squad. The 76ers tie the series 2-2 against the Miami Heat, an amazing comeback on their home Philadelphia court. James Harden made a monumental step forward for the 76ers in the postseason with step-back 3s that reignited his best form. Joel Embiid is playing better game by game and recovering better than expected from the orbital breach.

Embiid looks locked and loaded, as does Harden. And if the Miami Heat can’t figure out The Mask and The Beard, the next thing they’re about to see could be the offseason. Jimmy Butler scored 40 points on 13 of 20 shots from the floor, fought a resilient fight in vain.

The Sixers’ balanced attack led by James Harden’s 31 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds while Embiid had 24 points and 11 rebounds as the dynamic duo paved the way for Philadelphia to win, tying the series 2-2. Despite trailing 2-0 in the heat and uncertainty over Embiid’s return from injury, Philadelphia found its groove in the most desperate of times.

Kendrick Perkins has clarified his opinion on who should be MVP. The ESPN Sports analyst has hailed Joel Embiid as a clear candidate due to the tremendous influence he has on Philadelphia’s victories.

For the 2008 NBA champion, the reason is simple: Embiid dominates the “eye test”. His impact on the Sixers is crystal clear, and it doesn’t take a genius to notice how he helps his team win games. While Perkins admits Jokic has posted amazing stats to back up his MVP bid, it’s just too hard to ignore the Cameroon center.

There are no criteria for the MVP, so each voter will have their own considerations and opinions when making their choice. There are people who opt for narratives, while others place more emphasis on statistics. For Kendrick Perkins, he trusts what he sees on the pitch more than stats. Nikola Jokic averaged 27.1 points, 13.8 rebounds and 7.9 assists in 74 games this season, miraculously winning games for the Nuggets single-handedly.

Totally fair and without personal bias, Joel Embiid certainly deserves to be MVP as much as Nikola Jokic. Embiid carried the Sixers on his back for most of the 2021-22 season and did so amid all the off-court distractions stemming from the Ben Simmons saga.

His dominance is unquestionable and has established himself as an unstoppable offensive and defensive force. Joel Embiid has sparked life into the 76s since his return, will they continue their attack or is it Miami’s chance to turn up the “heat” and cook up some 3s of their own. Watch out for Game 5!
