Super lightweight Elvis Rodriguez recovered well from his lone defeat by stopping Juan Pablo Romero in the Canelo vs. Plant undercard.

Rodriguez (12-1-1, 11 KOs) lost his previous game in May to Kenneth Sims Jr. by majority decision. It was a disappointing performance, but the 25-year-old Dominican-born did not disappoint against Juan Pablo Romero.

Romero (14-1, 9 KOs) came into the fray, and he looked pretty good to start the contest. He knocked Rodriguez to the body in the first few innings. Rodriguez did not do much in the first half but started to stay awake in the second half.

By the fourth round, Rodriguez was fit, he left Romero. Romero survived the round and appeared to be recovering in round 5, but with a second left, Rodriguez landed a left landing directly on Romero’s chin, and he fell onto the canvas.

Romero stared at the referee as he counted the seconds, but he didn’t react, giving Rodriguez a KO in the fifth round.
