Elderly woman is said to have been sexually and physically assaulted by an intruder at a New South Wales aged care facility

An elderly New South Wales woman was allegedly sexually and physically assaulted by an intruder at an aged care facility.

The 90-year-old woman was allegedly attacked by a man who broke into the facility in Bateau Bay on the Central Coast at around 12.40am on November 15.

She suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

New South Wales Police executed a search warrant at an address in The Entrance at around 9.20pm on November 17.

Police seized electronic devices, SIM cards and clothing for forensic examination.

A 34-year-old man was arrested at a home in Caves Beach around 7:30 p.m. on Monday.

He allegedly tried to escape from police and was taken to hospital with minor injuries to his arm.

The man was charged with multiple crimes in connection with the alleged burglary and assault.

He was refused bail and is due to appear in Belmont Local Court on Tuesday.
