Elderly couple allegedly beat up at Cronulla Pavilion after confronting teenagers

An elderly couple have been slammed after confronting a teenager about his behavior in Cronulla.

The couple, in their 70s, were sitting in the Gunnamatta Bay Pavilion on Monday afternoon when a glass bottle was shattered by an unidentified person near them.

They confronted the 14-year-old about the incident.

The man and woman, aged 75 and 74 respectively, were pushed to the ground, police said.

They were also said to have been kicked “several times” while lying on the ground.

The couple were taken to hospital with a series of facial, head and body injuries.

After an investigation, the 14-year-old boy was arrested in Peakhurst on Tuesday morning.

He was charged with two counts of negligent assault ahead of a court hearing at Sutherland Children’s Court on Wednesday.

He remains in custody until his court appearance.
