Elden Ring has garnered billions of YouTube views since its launch

We know how hot elden ring became. Released on February 25th, FromSoftware’s latest Soulslike has shipped around 13.4 million copies to date. This makes it more successful than the disappointment of Sledgehammer Games Call of Duty: Vanguard from last year, a franchise often known for dominating the charts. However, now we’ve learned that the masochistic open-world game wasn’t just a smash hit in the market. elden ring was also hugely popular on YouTube, amassing 3.4 billion video views in just 60 days according to YouTube gaming stats, becoming one of the biggest launches on the platform.
YouTube Gaming, the dedicated gaming division for Google’s video sharing platform, recently posted some viewership numbers on twitter. According to the statistics elden ring has gained more views than other famous games during its launch time, such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (456 million views), The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (638 million views) and even GTA V (1.9 billion views). A few specific YouTubers have been credited as fueling elden ringviews. They have a “Lore Specialist” VaatiVidya and “soul born scholar” Zullie the witch, who were instrumental in uncovering stories and analyzing characters. There’s also Distortion2, a well-known speedrunner that destroyed the game in less than nine minutes back in April. YouTube Gaming also offered a salute to the “all-knowing leaders” of extralife and the “struggling tunemaker” RichaadEB, a metal guitarist extraordinaire who covered elden ring song tracks.
There are a few other data points in the tweet above, such as the most popular bosses to upload videos. You’d think it was the red-haired goddess Malenia, Blade of Miquella. I mean, Kotaku DotCom—and myself particularly—I’ve blogged quite a bit about the ruthless Queen of Red. You hard struggle has even produced a legendary player who was immortalized in-game as a fan-made summon and was gifted IRL swords from Bandai Namco and FromSoftware. But no, Malenia was the second most popular boss that the content focused on. The first? Margit, The Fell Omen, the first enemy you encounter after the Grafted Scion, and The Forgotten Soldier by Godrick.
elden ring also features 10 different classes. From the available archetypes to choose from to begin your adventure in the Lands Between, the samurai class was the most popular among uploaded videos. was second the herowhere the third being is the wightperhaps the most difficult archetype in the game, due to its lousy starting gear and stats.

Clearly, elden ring is FromSoftware’s most popular game to date. While it’s as unforgiving as Soulslikes usually are, what FromSoft has built is compelling enough for people to try and be charmed by. Whether it wins any Game of the Year awards remains to be seen. However, based on these YouTube gaming numbers, it seems so elden rings prospects are good.
