A diary Meghan Markle stumbled across while in the UK for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee has been branded “dynamite” by a royal insider.
The Duchess of Sussex confirmed the existence of the book in her controversial interview with The Cut magazine on Monday.

She told the publication that she found the diary while going through drawers in Frogmore Cottage, where she and Prince Harry lived.
“You go back and open drawers and you’re like, ‘Oh my God. I wrote that in my diary there?’” the Duchess said.
Now a source has told The Sun that Meghan kept a diary the whole time she was a working royal.
“Harry and Meghan were told to ignore social media and newspapers, but sometimes the staff would say to them, ‘I’m so sorry about what was written the other day,’ and she would hit the covers. She wrote everything in her diary as an insurance policy,” the insider said.
“If it ever saw the light of day, it would certainly be dynamite. By the sound of it, this diary was rediscovered, boxed and shipped back to Montecito this summer.”
Meghan Markle and The Cut
Meghan made some interesting comments to The Cut about her ability to speak up, telling the interviewer that she “never had to sign anything” which would prevent her from speaking out about her time as a working royal.
In a cryptic comment, she told the publication, “I have a lot to say until I don’t anymore. Sometimes, as the saying goes, the silent part is still part of the song.”
Royal expert and author Margaret Holder told The Sun the existence of a dairy would “send red flags to the royal family”.
“For Meghan, a book about her time with the royals offers a great opportunity to settle scores, name those who have offended her and hit back at a system she didn’t understand and didn’t want to learn,” she said.
Expert ‘very surprised’ when Meghan and Harry visit Queen
Meghan’s latest revelations come days before she and Harry return to the UK for a visit.
However, royal editor Phil Dampier said he would be “very surprised” if the couple were to visit the Queen on the occasion.
“They are on a tight schedule anyway and would find it difficult to adapt. But most importantly, I just don’t feel like there’s much goodwill on either side at the moment,” he told the Daily Mail.
“Prince Charles is in Scotland at the moment, as are other royals, and under normal circumstances Harry would want to see both his father and grandmother.
“But these are not normal times and I fear the family divide is getting worse, not better.”
Relations are unlikely to have been improved by launching the second episode of Meghan’s Archetypes podcast on Spotify.
In a discussion about the term “diva” with singing sensation Mariah Carey, Meghan turned the discussion to race.
“I mean, if there’s ever a time in my life that I’ve been more focused on my race, it’s been when I started dating my husband,” Meghan told Mariah.
“Then I started to understand what it’s like to be treated like a black woman. Because until then I was treated like a mixed woman. And things have REALLY changed.”
In her bombastic interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan previously famously claimed that a member of the royal family asked what skin color her and Harry’s unborn baby might be at birth.
Mariah Carey calls Meghan Markle a ‘diva’
However, it was another part of Meghan’s podcast that made waves this time around – when Mariah Carey dubbed the Duchess a ‘diva’ during the chat.
“Yeah, the diva thing we can play into. It’s not something I associate with, but for you it was a big part…” Meghan told Mariah as the podcast wrapped.
“You give us diva moments sometimes, Meghan,” Mariah interjected.
The Duchess then protested and the two chatted briefly.
“I don’t know… What diva moments am I giving you?” Meghan said.
“Don’t even pretend you don’t like it. It’s also the visual. It’s the visual,” Mariah continued.
“That’s the thing, you associate it differently,” Meghan could be heard saying at one point.
“Let’s pretend you’re not that beautiful and don’t have the whole and don’t have beautiful ensembles often. You might not get as much Diva [stuff]’ Maria replied.
Mariah went on to say she was “playing” with Meghan when she made the comment.
In a footnote, Meghan continued to talk about the awkward moment.
“Everything was going smoothly, I mean really well, until this moment happened that I don’t know about you guys, but it stopped me in my tracks,” she told listeners.
“When she called me ‘Diva.’ You obviously couldn’t see me, but I started to sweat a little, I started squirming in my chair in this silent revolt. Like, wait, what no! What? huh? How could you? That is not true. That’s not… Why would you say that?
“My mind was really just spinning with the nonsense she must have read or clicked to get her to say that. But I kept thinking at that moment, would my heartthrob die soon?
“Doesn’t she actually see me? So she must have sensed my nervous laughter… and she jumped right in to make sure I was crystal clear.
“When she said diva, she was talking about the way I dressed, the posture, the clothes. The “fabulousness” as she sees it.
“She meant diva as a compliment. But I heard it as a dig.”
