Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Brings XFL into Partnership with NFL » FirstSportz

Before he was a superstar in Hollywood Dwayne The Rock Johnson was one of WWE’s biggest Superstars and before that he was just a kid dreaming of making NFL 0 pay. Unfortunately, Dwayne Johnson didn’t make it onto an NFL team, was even rejected by the CFL (Canadian Football League) and so rock was born soon after.
After signing with WWE, Johnson had no turning back, but his dream still lingered. Now, almost two and a half decades after his professional football dreams were shattered, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson returns to the gridiron XFL.

Didn’t make it to the NFL, XFL is here for you
The Rock was recently on Jimmy Kimmel Live with guest host Kerry Washington, who is no stranger to the football field herself as her husband Nnamdi Asomugha was a Pro Bowl corner and spent most of his career as the then Oakland Raider.
The Rock discussed his purchase of the XFL by himself and his business partner Dany Garcia. “We wanted to take our time getting it right – this is the third iteration of XFL.” said the rock.
XFL previously ran in 2001 when it attempted to replace the NFL, after which it returned as a spring league in 2020, but the pandemic hit it hard, causing its owners to file for bankruptcy. After successfully winning the bid, The Rock and its partner are bringing XFL back next season in partnership with the NFL. “The NFL Alumni Academy is great, by the way.” Added The Rock“So the NFL has an alumni academy. So basically what happens is, if you’re not on the list during the NFL season, you automatically get a contact with the XFL.”
In the XFL, players can attend in the spring to prove themselves, and NFL coaches can come and evaluate the players and possibly the players who will make an NFL team in the fall. XFL will start in spring 2023.
XFL’s philosophy derives from The Rock’s own experiences as a footballer trying to create an NFL roster that was always the 54th man who never made the 53-man NFL roster. Per the Rock”Everyone in the XFL is the 54th guy.“
