Dustin Poirier Predicts He Will Finish Charles Oliveira In UFC 269 Title Match

Former interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier get one more chance to be the undisputed champion in the face of the title holder Charles Oliveira in the main event of UFC 269 on December 11.

Poirier may have fought for the title in his last fight but chose to face the former two-division champion Conor McGregor in a trio match. He beat McGregor for the second time and now wants the belt around his waist.

In an appearance on Time MMA, Poirier made his prediction for the championship game against Oliveira at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas next month.

“I really thought I was going to stop this guy,” Poirier said. “I really thought I was going to stop this guy. 25 minutes is too long to fight me and not get a shot and not get cornered. I’m feeling the best I’ve ever felt. My body feels good. I’m really focused. I can’t wait any longer.”

Although Poirier held the provisional title, he was unsuccessful in the unification against Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 242 in September 2019. Gaining a second chance at the world championship, Poirier was on the cusp of making a lifelong dream come true.

“These 25 minutes, no matter how hard or tiring you are going through, these 25 minutes will last the rest of my life. And maybe this is the last time I make that move to fight for the championship,” said Poirier.

“These 25 minutes mean so much to me, that I am ready to go beyond anything in those 25 minutes. I’m ready to go and I really believe I’m going to be world champion. ”
