Kamaru Usman is in the best possible position that a fighter would like to have. The welterweight champion explains which fight sounds more appealing to him – A fight with Chamzat Chimaev or a fight with Conor McGregor.
From absolutely no one ready to fight him early in his career to the biggest names lining up to get into the octagon with him, Usman has certainly grown into one of the biggest stars on the planet. If there’s one thing Kamaru doesn’t need to worry about, it’s the fear of running out of enemies. Usman recently broke his silence on rising superstar Khamzat Chimaev’s fight against title contender Gilbert Burns in an interview with TMZSports.
Usman loves what Chimaev brings to the table in a fight because of the hype that is built around it. Meanwhile, the Nigerian Nightmare also has a potential opponent in Irish superstar Conor McGregor, who plans to return to the octagon for a welterweight title fight. “These are two different directions” says Kamaru when asked to choose between one of the two Superstars.
“I mean, they’re both good money fights. But let’s face it, one is bigger than the other. I wouldn’t say easier because I have to train the same way. I don’t care if he’s the bigger one or the smaller one.” Usman told TMZ.

“That fight with the Irish… Conor carries a little more weight financially.” Usman said of the fight against The Notorious One. “But in khamzat there is something so pure about just being in a FIGHT. You saw that with Gilbert and Khamzat. You saw that with me and Covington 1.”
“Good point. You’ve never lived if you haven’t lived through this. You make a decision with yourself: ‘I don’t care what happens today, I’m ready to die in here.’ I feel that way about it [Chimaev] fight, that might bring me to this place,” Usman said about fighting a guy like Chimaev.
“I love it and I want that, but at the same time, financially, you have to drop the wallet on me.” ended Usman. Who do you think is a better matchup for Kamaru Usman?
