“I want these fights. Kudos to Rafael Alves. The fights I say yes to are the fights that are going to be,” said Dober, who has previously turned down fights he felt could become boring for fans.

The two fighters went back and forth for the first two rounds. Both fighters had periods where it looked like they had injured their opponent and could have ended the fight. In the third round, Dober landed a powerful body shot. Alves paused for a second or two after being hit before falling to the ground. Immediately, Dober saw his chance to end the fight and he did it. Dober jumped to the top and landed a few extra shots before the referee stopped the fight. Alves took a long time to recover before getting back on his feet.

Dober improved to 25-11, with a career no contest. With the knockout, Dober is second in UFC lightweight history with seven knockouts. Including his fight at UFC 277, seven of Dober’s last eight fights have ended in finishes. Dober will likely get a fight against a ranked opponent in his next fight.
