Meet Sam Gordon, the girl who changed football for good
Last week, Joel Embiid was a guest on Draymond Green’s podcast. Both had harsh words to exchange.
Joel Embiid and Draymond Green are no strangers to healthy trash talk. Last June, Green challenged Embiid in a series of tweets telling him to take every turn and “go into Shaq mode”. By chance Embiid started firing three pointers with little success.
Although the two have a history of publicly defaming each other, they still have a high degree of respect for each other (via Mark Haynes, ClutchPoints).
“He is a great defender. I can’t take anything away from that. He’s a great one-on-one defender. He is a good defender of the team. You know he’s very smart,” said Embiid.
Green and Embiid have played against each other a total of six games, and their stats in each match are pretty similar. The two seem to be each other’s perfect competition. Each player has won three of the six, and overall, Embiid has higher averages and rebounds, and Green has higher averages in assists, steals, and saves.
Green and Embiid are yet to face each other in the knockout stages, but there’s a good chance the match could happen this season in the NBA finals. Green currently plays for the Golden State Warriors, the third-placed team in the Western Conference, and Embiid plays for the Philadelphia 76ers, the fourth-placed team in the Eastern Conference.
Both are extremely talented players, and it looks like trash talk will be a motivating factor in each other.
