Drakkar Klose shoots at Alttrainer and Mark Madsen

Tensions with former coach lead to Drakkar Klose challenging Mark Madsen after his comeback win at UFC Vegas 51

Drakkar Klose made a statement both inside and outside the Octagon in his first fight in just over two years at UFC Vegas 51.

It was his first fight since being KO’d by Beneil Dariush at UFC 248 and his first win since defeating Christos Giagos at UFC 241.

Klose thoroughly dominated Brandon Jenkins in the opening round of their prelim, landing several hard punches although Jenkins kept fighting. Finally, Klose scored the goal 33 seconds into the second frame.

“I thought, ‘Damn! Why doesn’t this m*****f**** fall?” Klose said with a laugh in his post-fight interview. “He Is hard. He took a couple of big shots and stayed there. All credits to him for stepping up and fighting me.

Drakkar Klose follows the win after a two-year break by calling out Mark Madsen and saying he doesn’t like Madsen’s coach

This was also Klose’s first fight since leaving Fight Ready MMA and rejoining The MMA Lab.

Following the win, Klose challenged Mark Madsen, who is now training at Fight Ready and defeated Vinc Pichel at UFC 273 last week.

He’s also set his sights on his old trainer Eddie Cha, and there seems to be an unknown strain of bad blood.

“I don’t like his coach. He’s a piece of shit,” said Klose. “He used to be my coach and I just don’t like him. He’s a scumbag. Any of his boys that I want to fight.

“If they want, we can all line up their trainers against my trainers and have a big Royal Rumble that night.”

During his time away from the Octagon, Klose’s most notorious came a year ago when he was shoved at the weigh-in ahead of a planned fight with Jeremy Stephens. Klose reportedly suffered a spinal injury from the bump, and Klose says he’s been feeling the effects ever since.

“My neck will never be the same,” said Klose. “But what can I do about it? Get therapy and do as much as I can.”

“It’s very frustrating. I know what I’m signing up for. Whatever happened at the weigh-in, I wasn’t expecting it. If I was involved in a fight, I would be prepared.”

But now Klose will just use the frustration of the nudge – and all the missed time – to motivate him in the Octagon and have a strong way back.

“I want this belt,” said Klose. “I can’t fight forever. I have to make a name for myself. Just keep lining up these guys and I’ll keep beating them.”
