Drake gave away $8,000 gaming PC from Twitch streamer Xposed

Drake's PC

While you all know that despite their wealth, celebrities get expensive shit for free all the time, today we’re going to look at a special gift. Partly because it’s a gaming PC, but also because we kind of have the receipts for that too.

Esports guy Jake Lucky tweeted this earlier today and it certainly drew a reaction:

Response responses generally ranged from “it looks crappy” to “that’s massively overpriced” to “lmao all that just for gaming” (more on that in a moment). The first feeling might be a bit much. i thInk that looks great! It’s a gaming PC, what do you expect, and the white lighting in these photos looks infinitely classier than the electronic clown car aesthetic you often see on these types of systems.

It looks like something important from Alien Isolation, so I'm digging it up

As for price, there are a few caveats here. The PC – which was assembled by paradoxical customs– was actually purchased as a gift from streamer Xposed for Drake (Paradox tells Kotaku they “worked out” the component choices together) and in the time between the initial order and the actual arrival of the PC The market for many expensive PC parts has collapsed for some reason. Add in some Canadian taxes that Xposed had to pay, and Paradox says the actual cost is closer to $6500 as of July 2022. Which is still ridiculously expensive for a PC, but it’s not $8000 either.

How do we know? Paradox tweeted this earlier today, which also conveniently gives us a chance to take a look at the kind of specs you can expect in a PC that costs more than my last three desktops combined.

Who paid for the system and why, Xposed singled out that exact system for themselves and then says they ordered a second one for Drake because he had been helping the rapper with a previous PC but had to skimp and get it at the time a “prebuilt by Best Buy because it was last minute”:

In December 2021, Xposed signed a partnership agreement with Stakean online gambling site that is happening to Drake to constantly stream and promote at the same timeand who have shared this new PC arrival on their social networks.
