Dragon Ball FighterZ to get rollback netcode on PS5, Xbox Series X and PC

After the release of Lab Coat Android 21 and a balance patch with no communication on its future, Dragon Ball FighterZ is getting next-gen upgrades and a rollback netcode. After the EVO 2022 Top 8 event, Bandai Namco and Dragon Ball FighterZ producer Tomoko Hiroki took the stage. Through a translator, she announced that next-gen versions of the popular fighter were coming, an announced rollback netcode would come with it.

The announcement came after the grand finale, which ran well into the early hours of Sunday morning. No trailer or footage has been released of the next-gen native versions. The announcement mentions that the rollback netcode will only be available for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PC versions of the game. Upgrade paths are coming for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users when these updates are released.

Netcode reset has been a highly requested feature since Dragon Ball FighterZ launched in 2018. With the game’s frantic three-on-three action, the lag-based netcode caused many problems for players attempting to battle others online.

The lack of rollback netcode became a community flash point during the pandemic. With offline events cancelled, online tournaments struggled to keep the community happy as the lag-based netcode affected player performance.

Earlier this year, Lab Coat Android 21 launched and instantly became the game’s best character. After months of being banned from community tournaments, Bandai Namco released a patch with slight nerfs to their skills and adjustments for the rest of the cast. No mention was made of dealing with netcode criticism as the EVO announcement came as a surprise to the community.

During the brief announcement, Producer Tomoko Hiroki announced that no future characters, content, or balance patches would be coming to Dragon Ball FighterZ.

Up to now, EVO 2022 has contained several fighting game announcements such as: B. a rollback netcode for Samurai Shodown, an official re-release of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Arcade 1up and Skullgirl’s next character reveal.
