Downtown Owl adds Henry Golding to film adaptation

Henry Goldling will be heading to Owl, North Dakota for one of his next roles. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Golding has been cast in the upcoming movie downtown owl.

The character Golding will play in the film has not yet been announced. Golding’s previous work includes that of 2021 Snake-eyes (directed by Robert Schwenke), 2019 The gentlemen (directed by Guy Richie), and last christmas (directed by Paul Feige). Joining Golding in the film will be the one previously announced Lili Rabe, EdHarris, Vanessa Hudgens, Finn Wittrock, Jack Dylan Grazerand August Blanco Rosenstein.

Set in the 1980s, the film follows three characters who live in the remote fictional town of Owl, North Dakota. One is Horace, an old man who spends most of his time in a coffee shop, reminiscing about better times from the past. Another is Mitch, a high school backup quarterback who is depressed. The third is Julia, an English teacher who recently moved to Owl and took a job at the town’s high school. The lives of the three characters change along with the rest of the city during a white blizzard. It is based on the 2008 novel Chuck Klosterman, which later became one New York Times Best seller.

The film is directed by Rabe and Hamish Linklater. It will be her directorial debut. Linklater also wrote the film’s screenplay. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring Chuck Klosterman’s human, haunting and hilarious novel to the screen with this phenomenal cast, exquisite crew and brilliant production partners,” Rabe and Linklater said of the film. “We both grew up in small towns, cities that we love. The town of Owl, sweet and sour, felt like home to us from the first read, and we’re excited to adapt this love story about home into a movie.”

Both will also be producers for the film, with Rabe producing through Kill Claudio Productions. Bettina Barrow and Rebecca Green will also act as producers. Laura Riser, Lee Brodaand Joel Michaely will be executive producers for the film. Tom McLeod will be co-executive producer. T Bone Burnett will be responsible for the music of the film. The film is being produced by Sony’s Stage 6 Films. Level 6 movies Eric Karl and Elizabeth grave will oversee the film.

No official release date has been announced downtown owl. The film is currently being shot in Minnesota.
