NBA fans were stunned when the Portland Trail Blazers marquee walked straight at a young Indiana Pacers fan and ended up throwing away his cell phone. Known as one of the most humble players in the modern NBA, it seemed like Nurkic would lose his composure in front of a fan. However, the latest reports detail why the 27-year-old lost his composure and it’s really worrying.

To get everyone on the same page, Jusuf Nurkic was fined $40,000 for his heated altercation. Shortly after the news broke, fans learned that Nurkic’s action was not in response to the usual heckling from opposition supporters. The “innocent” finally made it personal by insulting the NBA player’s mother and late grandmother.

Real Cause of Jusuf Nurkic’s Outburst from Pacers Fan

According to Chris Haynes, the certain Pacers fan allegedly called Nurkic’s mom “trash” and his grandmother a “bitch” before central Portland confronted him. As Haynes mentioned, Jusuf Nurkic’s grandmother died in 2020 from COVID-19. She contracted the virus over the summer, and Nurkic announced her death via Instagram in mid-August 2020. Since then, the center has published several posts honoring and remembering them.

The league has punished Jusuf Nurkic for his actions, but there has been no word on any impact on the Pacers fan. NBA fans are too comfortable bothering players twice their size.

This isn’t the first time an NBA player has realized how personal things have gotten based on his game. Even Lakers marquee Russell Westbrook got into a heated argument with a fan when he yelled “Westbrick.” Knowing that revealing an employee’s last name would only make things worse, this particular fan proceeded to constantly call out Brodie, Westbrick.

Given that fans love the NBA unconditionally and are connected to their passion, there might be a fine line between decency and “love of the sport” that needs to be maintained.
