Don’t be surprised if KD stays out of the Nets camp
Nets star Kevin Durant is reportedly ready to sit out training camp if Brooklyn doesn’t respond to his trade request or organizational changes.
How far is Kevin Durant willing to take his conflict with him? Brooklyn Networks? Straight to the Nets’ training camp, according to the New York Daily News.
Durant asked the Nets for a trade after the Kyrie Irving drama hit a head. This week it became clear that players and management cannot coexist.
The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported that Durant gave owner Joe Tsai an ultimatum: KD or Head Coach Steve Nash and General Manager Sean Marks.
Kevin Durant Rumors: Don’t be surprised if KD lasts through Nets training camp
Now Kristian Winfield from the New York Daily News reports that Durant is poised to hold out if the Nets don’t trade him or make a head coach and GM change.
Apparently, the Nets had banked on Durant’s love of basketball to get him into training camp. They can no longer rely on that, as the 33-year-old seems to be at the end of his rope with the organization.
Perseverance may be necessary for Durant. Tsai tweeted his support of the management team on Monday, saying, “Our front office and coaching team have my support. We will make decisions in the best interests of the Brooklyn Nets.”
Is losing Durant really in the networks’ best interest? It all boils down to whether or not they can find a suitable trading partner, as it certainly doesn’t sound like Durant would be interested in doing business with Nash and Marks.
These new reports could be strategically designed to get Brooklyn to lower their price for the All-Star. At least they could stimulate further negotiations with interested teams.
This situation just doesn’t get any friendlier.
