Donald Cerrone not an easy test for his next fight.
“Cowboy” announced via his YouTube channel that his next appearance will see him have his face made up by wrestling champion Craig Jones in a fighting jiu-jitsu contest. in Cancun, Mexico, on December 19.
“Eddie Bravo called me,” Cerrone said (h/t Bloody elbow). “He wanted me to do a ‘superfight’ to take down the worst jiu-jitsu artist out there. But it’s jiu-jitsu fighting, so it’s possible to hit with the palm of your hand. “
“It’s wrestling until you hit the ground, then palm fighting and jiu-jitsu,” he continued. “Will be fun. Hopefully I can undo a heel hook caused by the palm of my hand touching my face, I don’t know.”
Cerrone, 38, is now winless in his six previous UFC appearances, including a loss to Anthon Pettis, Conor McGregor, Justin Gaethje and Tony Ferguson. He most recently competed in May at a UFC Vegas event where he lost TKO in the first round. Alex Morono.
Of the 36 MMA victories in his career, Cerrone owns 17 with bachelorette endings. In the video, he says that he and Jones had previously rolled around on an occasion before The Ultimate Fighter 29 Finale (Jones was an assistant to Alexander Volkanovskiof the group on the show) in June.
Cerrone admits that he’s looking forward to this jiu-jitsu contest more than another UFC fight right now.
“Right now, I’m sure it is,” Cerrone said. “It’s just different, changing it. At this level, there are no shortcuts so my last fight I used shortcuts and it didn’t end well. I’m coming of age in training and I know what I have to do and what it takes to be the Cowboy that people want to see fight.”
