DL Charles Omenihu arrested by the 49ers on an alleged domestic violence misdemeanor

Celebrity players are always recognized for their on-field activities. It’s quite difficult to get personal information from a big player. 49ers’ DL Charles Omenihu is in the spotlight for personal reasons.

San Francisco 49ers defensive end Charles Omenihu was arrested Monday in San Jose for domestic violence.

Omenihu, 25, was arrested at 4:39 p.m. in the 300 block of Santana Row after police responded to a report by Omenihu’s girlfriend, who said Omenihu “pushed her to the ground during an altercation.” Omenihu has already posted bail and is no longer in prison.

The lady had “pain in her arm” but refused medical help. No injuries were found by the police. Omenihu was taken to the main Santa Clara County jail after the girl requested that a restraining order be issued against him. The Santa Clara County District Attorney will review the case and determine whether or not to file charges.

“We are aware of the Charles Omenihu affair and are in the process of gathering additional information,” the 49ers said.

Omenihu, a crucial reinforcement, made three starts and finished third with the 49ers in 4.5 sacks. He recorded two sacks and a forced fumble in the team’s postseason triumph over Seattle in the wild card round, 41-23, on January 14.

Omenihu returned to the field after suffering an oblique injury in Sunday’s 19-12 divisional playoff win over Dallas. He played 15 defensive games out of a possible 61 and had a QB hit.

Current coach Kyle Shanahan indicated Monday morning that he expects Omenihu to play Sunday’s NFC Championship game against the Eagles in Philadelphia. That was before Omenihu was arrested.
