DK Metcalf closes down on Chiefs deal in fun fashion

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf wanted nothing to do with Chiefs fans in his mentions after the Tyreek Hill deal.

Both Kansas City chiefs and Green Bay packers asked about Metcalf, as well as teammate Tyler Lockett, after their all-star receiver business. Although Metcalf will ask for an extension at some point – since he just signed until the end of the 2022 season – Odds are he wouldn’t be as expensive as Tyreek Hill or Davante Adams if only for his age.

Metcalf is only 24, but he’s perfectly happy in Seattle right now even dealing with Russell Wilson. Drew Lock was locked in midfield without Wilson.

When approached by a Chiefs fan about a potential deal, Metcalf ended the conversation very quickly.

And is that that? Not too fast.

NFL Rumors: DK Metcalf Still In The Chiefs’ Role

Seattle is the only franchise Metcalf has ever known, so his loyalty makes a lot of sense in this case. However, John Schneider will likely continue to receive calls about his youth.

Metcalf will have a high price tag attached to his name, but any player can trade, even the great Patrick Mahomes. If the Chiefs are willing to transfer most of the draft capital and more to Seattle for Metcalf services, and have the power to replace Hill with a younger, more physically active recipient, so be it. It will surely make Mahomes happy.

In Metcalf’s view, the door is closed, but that’s because Seahawks management is telling him all the right things. That could change in a week or even two, as the NFL Draft rolls around and Seattle realizes their fastest route to rebuilding is through rookie contracts.

Metcalf’s sense of humor is appreciated in this case – it’s been a tough 24 hours for Chiefs fans – but it’s likely he landed in Kansas City or elsewhere by the time the season ended it was still close to 50/50. DK Metcalf closes down on Chiefs deal in fun fashion
