Division III Men’s Golf Champion Teams and Individual Selected

INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Committee has announced the teams and individuals selected to participate in the 2017 NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championship.

The championships, which will be held May 16-19 at the Mission Inn Resort & Club, in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida, will be hosted by the University of Oglethorpe and the Central Florida Athletic Commission. .

A total of 215 participants will compete at the 2017 championships. Thirty-three conferences have been awarded automatic status for the championships. Two teams were selected from Group B, consisting of independent institutions and organizations that were members of conferences that did not meet the requirements for automatic certification. The final seven berths are reserved for Group C, which are the organizations from the non-championship auto-qualifying conferences of the conference, and any remaining Group B teams. The top five individuals are selected from the remaining players who have not yet qualified for a team. Here is the list of teams and individuals selected for the 2017 championship:

Claremont McKenna-Harvey Mudd-Scripps Colleges claimed the first national title in school history at the 2016 NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championship, finishing six shots ahead of runner-up Huntingdon College. Evan Cox, of Virginia Wesleyan College, clinched the individual medalist title after finishing eight points in the 4-day event and winning a three-legged playoff over Addison Lambeth, Huntingdon and Alex Wrenn, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. The 2016 Championships were held at the Midvale Country Club and Mendon Golf Club, Rochester, New York, and were hosted by the University of St. John Fisher and the Monroe County Athletic Commission.
