Disney and Starz collaborate in Latin America

The Walt Disney Company and Starz have partnered to offer a streaming subscription bundle in Latin America that includes Star Plus, Disney Plus and Starzplay.

The latest development comes as competition continues to intensify in the region and better-funded players, led by streaming giants Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Apple Plus, are looking to keep boosting their subscriptions.

The package, offered in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru on the Disney Plus and Star Plus websites, offers subscriptions to all three streaming services for one price in local currency. Subscribers must download each platform’s app on their compatible devices to access their program.

Star Plus offers live sports content from ESPN and general entertainment featuring animated comedies like The Simpsons, Futurama and Family Guy; Films such as “The Kings Man” and Eugenio Derbez’ hit comedy “The Valet” as well as Latin American in-house productions “No fue mi culpa: Mexico”, “Los Protectores”, “Terapia Alternativa” and “El Galán” can be seen, among others.

Disney Plus content includes recent Disney and Pixar films Encanto and Turning Red; The latest installments from Marvel Studio, including Hawkeye, Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel;” and “Star Wars” series such as “The Mandalorian,” “The Book of Boba Fett,” and “Obi-Wan Kenobi.” It also includes Disney’s Latin American original productions, “Intertwined” and “Siempre Fui Yo,” other local shows are in preparation.

Owned by Lionsgate, Starzplay offers exclusive access to the hit Starz Original Series the same day they release in the US, including Executive Producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s “Power”; dark comedy The Shining Vale, starring Courteney Cox; and the modern interpretation of the Nixon-Watergate scandal “Gaslit”. It also includes the genre-bending dramedy The Great and the Lionsgate blockbuster franchises The Hunger Games and Twilight.
