John Wick Franchise Director Chad Stahelski has developed a film adaptation of the wonderfully fantastic samurai game for PlayStation, Spirit of Tsushima. The film is being produced by Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions and has just taken a big step forward with the hiring of a writer.

Takashi Doscher should write the script. He previously wrote and directed the romantic sci-fi romance, Justmain role Freida Pinto and Leslie Odom Jr. He also made the film quietcurrently available on Hulu and the documentation A fighting chance, which aired on ESPN. Doscher’s most recent project was a screenplay he wrote for a film entitled Blue, which is currently being developed jointly with AGBO and MGM. It’s supposed to be a variant of a Japanese monster movie.

Developed by Sucker Punch Productions, the game centers on samurai warrior Jin Sakai, the last surviving member of his clan, who must abandon the traditions that have shaped him as a warrior to wage an unconventional war for the freedom of Tsushima to lead.

In the late 13th century, the Mongol Empire devastated entire nations in its campaign to conquer the East. Tsushima Island is all that stands between mainland Japan and a massive Mongol invasion fleet led by the ruthless and cunning General Khotun Khan. As the island burns after the first wave of the Mongol attack, samurai warrior Jin Sakai stands as one of the last surviving members of his clan. He is determined to do whatever it takes to protect his people and take back his homeland. He must leave behind the traditions that shaped him as a warrior to embark on a new path, the path of the spirit, and wage an unconventional war for the freedom of Tsushima.

Asad Qizilbash, Head of PlayStation Productions, previously said in a statement: “We are excited to partner with Chad and 87Eleven Entertainment to bring their vision of Jin’s story to the big screen. We love working with creative partners like Chad who are passionate about our games to ensure we can create rich customizations that will delight our fans and new audiences.”

I loved this game and I think Stahelski will end up making an incredibly cool action packed samurai movie!
