Developer Celeste Receives Their Game Award After YouTuber Bought It On eBay

Incredibly OK Games, the developers behind the hit 2018 indie game Celeste, have finally received their Best Indie Game award from The Game Awards more than three years later.

This episode came to light after a Call of Duty Youtuber made by the controller PrestigeIsKey released a video on his channel explains how he bought the prize on eBay, thinking it was a copy for $375. The content creator talked about how he was looking for a copy of the TGA award to make something of his collection.

In his video, Prestige mentions that sellers often sell car parts, so he doesn’t know how they got the prize. Everything the listing has to offer “came from one of our liquidation sources. Other than that, we don’t have any other information about the origin of this item.”

Prestige reached out to Heidy Motta, CEO at Extreme OK Games, to inquire about the prize. Motta replied: “We never received the trophy.” Developer Celeste has decided to refund the amount Prestige paid for the trophy and they will also be sending signed copies of the game.

Gamepur has reached out to The Game Awards for comment and will update this story accordingly as it progresses. Developer Celeste Receives Their Game Award After YouTuber Bought It On eBay
