Details of PlayStation X Discord account linking features

It’s been several months since the partnership with PlayStation X Discord published for the first time, but the partnership has borne fruit. A new update on the official Discord Blog reveals Discord integration with the PlayStation Network has begun, so anyone can show off what they’re playing on PS4 or PS5.

Follow blog entry, users on PS4 and PS5 will be able to link their PSN accounts to Discord. This will allow them to display their game activity on those platforms in the Discord app. They will also be able to show their PSN online ID to their Discord friends. The blog offers a specific benefit of this scenario: Cross-platform compatible game players will be able to coordinate gameplay more easily. The feature is “gradually” rolling out to Discord users.

To actually sign up for PlayStation X Discord integration, the process is pretty straightforward and similar to other Discord service connections. Players can connect their Discord and PlayStation Network accounts through the user settings page on their mobile device, web, or desktop app. Once connected, Discord will be able to display the player’s PS4 and PS5 game activity in real time.

One note: PlayStation users must set their PSN Online Status and “Now Playing” display setting (see in PSN privacy settings) to “Anyone”. Otherwise, Discord will not be able to broadcast their status.

Discord is available on PC and mobile platforms. PSN integration is being rolled out gradually.
