The Witch Queen is unlike all previous ones determination extension in many ways, and the new raid Vow of the Disciple is no exception. Here’s a clip that shows one of the big reasons why, in less than 30 seconds.

spoiler alert: destiny 2The best way to experience raids is when you don’t know what to expect. So if you’re planning on playing Vow of the Disciple soon and don’t want the final boss spoiled, turn back now.

OK, still here? Cool. Now on determinationis the new raid bossMission: Rhulk, Witness’s apprentice. He is tall, very humanoid in appearance, and extremely aloof. He reminds me of a cross between the Slender Man and Beauty and the Beastis Lumiere. And he doesn’t tolerate fools.

Here’s a clip that recently blew up in the community of a determination Player trying to hide from Rhulk behind a pillar:

It’s funny for a couple of reasons. First of all, Rhulk shouldn’t be able to walk there. Apparently, raid bosses can now cheat players. Second, he finishes off the poor guard with an Olympic-level punter kick that hits her with one shot.

Rhulk is a special raid boss in part because he’s from a new race of aliens never seen or mentioned before in the game (he’s also last of his kind for, uh, some very sinister reasons). The Lord of the Space Dance is also a major stylistic departure for the series.

Raid bosses are typically lumbering, hulking aliens and fight in a style to match. Rhulk is far more precise, refined and elegant, the contrast between his power and grace being due to how much of a haughty ass he is. Where they stamped, he kicks. He would be right at home in Dragon Ball great or any number of other popular anime. After the clip above started circulating online, player memes the moment accordingly.

You can currently attempt to face Rhulk yourself with five like-minded players on or above the recommended power level of 1520. The Vow of the Disciple raid went live on March 5th and was first beaten to over seven hours after a series of server-side technical issues from the Elysium clan. They only spent a couple of them to get Rhulk beat the shit out of them.
