Despite the family war, King Charles speaks about his feelings for Harry and Meghan

King Charles III gave his first speech as the new monarch and took the opportunity to mention Harry and Meghan and their place in the family.
Speaking from Buckingham Palace, the new king looked emotional as he discussed his mother’s service as the longest-reigning monarch.
“I know her passing brings great sadness to so many of you, and I share this sense of immeasurable loss with you all,” he said.

Noting the Queen’s “unwavering devotion,” Charles said: “I, too, now solemnly pledge to uphold the constitutional principles in the heart of our nation during the remaining time that God grants me. “
During his speech, the king confirmed the new royal titles held by other family members.
Charles said of his wife Camilla, “In recognition of her own faithful public service since we married 17 years ago, she will be my Queen Consort.”
The monarch also confirmed that Prince William, heir apparent, will succeed him as Duke of Cornwall.
“Today I am proud to make him Prince of Wales,” Charles said, adding that Katherine will be bestowed the Princess of Wales.
But notably missing from the list of new titles was Charles’ other son, Harry.
Harry has spoken publicly about his strained relationship with his father after moving to the United States.
However, Charles wasted no time in publicly declaring his “love” for his son to unfreeze the icy relationship.
“I would also like to express my love for Harry and Meghan as they continue to build their lives abroad.”
During the Queen’s final moments, both Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stayed away while their husbands traveled to Balmoral to be at their bedside.
As Harry and Meghan’s children are now grandsons of the monarch, they too are eligible for new titles, although there is no confirmation yet.
According to the 1917 Letters Patent of King George V, the title Prince/Princess may be used by the Sovereign’s children, the Sovereign’s sons’ children and the eldest living son of the Prince of Wales’ eldest son.
Since Harry is the second son of King Charles III, his children were previously not eligible for titles when Charles was a prince.
You are now entitled to become His Royal Highness Prince Archie of Sussex and Her Royal Highness Princess Lilibet of Sussex, but only if granted by the King.
However, it was previously reported that Charles wanted a “slimmed-down monarchy” where only direct heirs and their family would hold official titles.
That would mean only Prince William and his family would hold royal titles.
In her interview with Oprah, Meghan previously opened up about Archie’s missing title.
“They said they didn’t want him to become a prince or princess, which would be off protocol and that he wouldn’t get security,” she said.
“It was like the last few months of our pregnancy where I was like, ‘Wait a second.’ said [he’s not going to get security] because he will not be a prince.”
