“Deshaun Watson used his status as an NFL player against women,” fumed NFL analyst Kyle Brandt over QB’s inadequate 6-game suspension

Cleveland Browns and Deshaun Watson can finally breathe a sigh of relief, at least for now. The 26-year-old quarterback was investigated by the NFL after 24 women accused him of sexual harassment while he was with the Houston Texans.
Deshaun Watson’s case has been referred to an independent Disciplinary Officer under league rules and Sue L. Robinson, the Disciplinary Officer in charge of his case, has announced a meager 6-game suspension. In June, a New York Times report claimed Watson had sent flirtatious and inappropriate messages to his masseurs, but all of this could only result in a 6-game ban.
The length of his suspension has angered a large segment of NFL analysts and fans, who worry about the kind of message such a verdict would convey to potential future offenders. Leading NFL analyst Kyle Brandt didn’t hold back his feelings when discussing Deshaun Watson’s punishment, as he hoped that sentence wouldn’t stay that way.

Kyle Brandt said during the final episode of ‘Good Morning Football’ on NFL Network: “You start to lose sight of the human component of this story. This is not a player getting banned for PEDS or even gambling. This is a very poignant human story that’s about women and there’s this thing with well, it’s not 30, it’s not two dozen, it’s five. Who cares if it is one?“
He continued, “Do you understand? It could be one, and there’s also this non-violent phrase that’s thrown away like it’s some kind of band-aid. The word is imperative. And I look at six and I find it very easy. I personally hope it doesn’t stay that way. I think Deshaun Watson used his status as an NFL player against women.”
“In my opinion, and I think it’s happened more than once, and I think it was in closed doors in small rooms against women who were probably intimidated. And it pisses me off even talking about it. And to be honest, it pisses me off to see the number six. And I don’t think it’s going to stay that way and I hope not.”
The only positive for anyone who wants a larger sentence for Deshaun Watson is the fact that the NFL has three days to decide whether or not to appeal Robinson’s decision. In the event the league decides to appeal the decision, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has the authority to change the ruling to a longer duration.
