In the T20 blast between Derbyshire and Somerset, the latter completely beat the former during the fourth quarter-final match played on July 9 (Saturday) at Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton. Somerset also went on to record the highest total of the tournament after hitting 265 runs in her allotted 20 overs.
Derbyshire had won the toss and opted to roll first. Somerset Batters began playing much more aggressively as openers Tom Banton and Will Smeed gave the team a perfect start. Later, when Rilee Rossouw joined Banton, both unleashed a brutal attack on the Derbyshire bowling team.

For Derbyshire, leg spinner Mattie McKiernan had the worst outing as a bowler when he registered the most expensive spell in T20 cricket history in his four overs. McKiernan conceded 82 Rus in his four overs at an economy rate of 20.5. He also couldn’t scalp wickets for his side.
Banton hit 73 runs with 41 balls and Rossouw hit 93 runs with just 36 balls, including eight fours and seven maximums. Derbyshire responded with just 74 runs before being eliminated within 11.2 overs. Batsman Wayne Madsen had the most runs for his team with 14 carries from 17 balls.
Veteran Somerset pacesetters Peter Siddle and Ben Green conceded three wickets to help their sides to a huge win in 191 runs. Rossouw was named player of the match for his shot of 93 from 36 balls.
