Lovato overdosed on heroin – which she now believes was laced with fentanyl – and suffered three strokes and a heart attack after being rushed to hospital.

The 29-year-old says she has had “a lot of guilt” since the incident, particularly when rapper Mac Miller died shortly after.

According to the official toxicology report, Miller died in September 2018 at the age of 26 from an accidental overdose of fentanyl, cocaine and alcohol.

“I feel like they’re still there to remind me what might happen if I ever go into a dark place again.”

She added, “I’m grateful for those memories, but I’m also so grateful that I was someone who didn’t have to do a lot of rehab.

“Rehab came on the emotional side and the therapeutic side, internally.

“After that I worked a lot – just not physically.”
