Demetrius Andrade vs. Jason Quigley

Via Mark Eisner: Demetrius Andrade will defend tonight on DAZN against opponent Jason Quigley in the 12th round match.

Andrade (30-0, 18 KOs), who some boxing fans feel is the best 160-pound athlete on the planet, will defend his WBO middleweight title against Quigley (20-1, 14 KOs) during a voluntary defense at SNHU Arena, Manchester, New Hampshire. The action begins at 8 p.m. ET.

Boxing News 24 offers the following live results for tonight’s action in New Hampshire:

  • 6’6″ large fringe candidate Demsey McKean (20-0, 13 KO) beat laner Don Haynesworth (16-8-1, 13 KOs) by sixth-round knockout. The referee intervened and halted the game after McKean knocked it down with a series of difficult shots. Injury time is: 27. The referee looked like he was about to stop the game in the fifth inning after Demsey hurled a series of headers at heavyweight Haynesworth. After the fight, McKean said he was a “step-up” opponent for the next fight and then a big name.
  • In a surprise, the prospect is a light heavyweight Khalil Coe (1-0-1, 1 KO) fought in a four-round majority draw with Aaron Casper (6-4-2, 5 KOs). The score was 39-37 for Coe, 38-38 and 38-38. As for the highly rated Coe being held to a draw against an opponent of this level, it would be a huge disappointment for his promoters at Matchroom Boxing as they were expecting big things from him. since signing him last April.

The basic squad is talented integrated with the following talented fighters: Murodjon Akhmadaliev, Julio Cesar Martinez and Kali Reiss are active.

Andrade, 33, needed to put on an interesting performance against Quigley to dispel the notion that he was a boring boxer.

In some of Andrade’s recent bouts, he failed to turn it around to score his opponents after dominating them early, and he paid the price.

Big names like Gennady Golovkin, Jermall Charlo, and Canelo Alvarez who want to face opposition are willing to go out of their way to make it entertaining.

Andrade has been somewhat cautious in some of his fights, and that has resulted in him being unfairly seen as a dull boxer.

Quigley is ready to annoy Andrade

Quigley said of Demetrius: “I knew I could bring on the table things that would upset him.

“He’s not the so-called fan-friendly fighter, he can be very clumsy and messy, his style isn’t interesting for people who want to see gore,” Quigley continued about Andrade.

“He is a technical fighter. I think he is being dodged because of his style.”

Quigley said to Social boxing. “He’s an accomplished boxer, a second-weight world champion and a former amateur world champion.

“I believe this man is probably the best middleweight right now. I’m so excited and looking forward to sharing the ring with him and trying to get that strap off him and get it back.

“It’s important because I have to do what I do,” Quigley said of the important thing he noted that let Andrade catch up with him. “If I let him get on the ball, it wouldn’t be a plan for me and it wouldn’t be a good move.

“So it was very important for me to work on the game plan that Andy and I [Lee] installed in the training camp a few weeks ago, and we’ll take care of the business,” said Quigley.

Jason came to rip his belt

“I came here to be world champion and that was my plan Friday night,” Quigley said.

“I am the type of person that whenever a challenge like this arises, you start your game. If you can’t keep up with your game when you’re fighting for a world title, then I think you’re playing the wrong sport.

“For me, I’ve seen a lot of progress in a lot of the things that I do, so I’m very excited,” Quigley said. “Every day, I try to be 1% better, so it’s probably been two years since Tureano [Johnson] battle.

“So you’re talking about 1000% better from 1% better every day. I’ve improved a lot mentally and I’m in a much better place for this fight. I’m excited and looking forward to it,” said Quigley. Demetrius Andrade vs. Jason Quigley
