Delta Goodrem opens up about her sleeping arrangement as her engagement to Matthew Copley is announced
She thrilled her fans when she announced her engagement on Thursday night, and now singer Delta Goodrem has made a candid revelation about her recent sleeping arrangements.
She chatted to Sunrise’s Edwina Bartholomew in a recorded interview that aired this morning after revealing that her “best friend”, musician Matthew Copley, had proposed to her.
During the conversation, Goodrem opened up about the hustle and bustle leading up to this very special personal moment.

Goodrem and Copley announced their engagement with a photo and video posted to Instagram and they could be seen kissing at sunset in Malta while Goodrem held a glass of wine.
The pair had been enjoying a well-deserved break after a series of performances on Goodrem’s European Hearts on the Run tour.
“Delta, could you be any busier?” Eddy asked the star, who was on tour in Berlin at the time of the interview and is also appearing in a new Netflix romantic comedy called “Love is in the Air.”
“You’ve started your own record label, released a new hit single, sold out a tour and now there’s a movie! Do you have enough to do?”
“It’s definitely busy times, but I’m so grateful,” Goodrem responded.
“We were in Zurich yesterday. In Switzerland. And then the day before we were in Cologne, I think, the day before we were in Paris and so it’s definitely a different country every day.”
“Feels like a very fancy Contiki tour at this rate,” Eddy replied, to which Goodrem made a candid revelation about their recent sleeping arrangements.
“I wouldn’t call it fancy!” she said.
“You sleep on the bus, which is a tour bus. There are about 10 people.
“We’re all together in our little bunks. And it’s… you know, when you get there, it’s time to leave.”
After Goodrem’s interview, Sunrise co-hosts Nat Barr and Matt Shirvington congratulated her on her engagement and announced that they would toast with a champagne breakfast on the show next Friday, where Goodrem will host a special breakfast party.
A day earlier, Goodrem’s fans were also excited about their good news.
Celebrities including Rebecca Judd, model Jess Gomes and singer Samantha Jade rushed to congratulate the star on her engagement.
“Exciting times! Congratulations guys, I wish you the best of luck,” one fan wrote.
“Congratulations, beautiful one! I’m so happy for you both xx,” wrote another.
“I wish you both all the best for the years ahead together,” said a third.
Others raved about the engagement ring, which was featured in a video she shared.
“This ring! Perfection!” said one fan, tagging Matthew Copley.
Recently, Goodrem paid an effusive tribute to her boyfriend on his birthday, calling him her “favorite person.”
“Another year around the sun!! On tour, on your birthday! 🎶❤️,” she wrote
“Happy birthday to my best friend and favorite person in the whole world. My 🌏 @matthew.copley 🎉I love you!”
Photos showed the couple on stage, dancing together and sharing special moments backstage and on tour.
Responding to the sweet post, Copley wrote, “You’re the 🍏 in my 👁️😍❤️❤️❤️❤️.”
Goodrem has been dating Copley for almost six years.
The couple kept a low profile and the singer previously shared that it was a “conscious decision” to keep their relationship private.
“I made the decision not to even comment ‘yes’ or ‘no’… I haven’t said anything for three or four years,” she said InStyle in 2018.
Copley is also part of Goodrem’s new record label ATLED Records, which launched earlier this year.
“It’s special for me to be able to make music anywhere. Making music anywhere with my love is even better. Making music with my love and family in Malta was so incredible!” Copley wrote on Instagram on July 19.
“But yesterday’s performance was important for several reasons.”
“With an incredible team around us, without whom we couldn’t do any of this, Delta and I launched ATLED Records and premiered the first song live on stage!
“What a day.”
