Deepika Rasangika played in more than 60 matches for the Sri Lanka women’s national cricket team between 2008 and 2014 including selection for the 2009 Women’s Cricket World Cup. Deepika Rasangika has broken several records due to this unbeaten century. She broke Alyssa Healy’s unbeaten record of 148 and is now the top scorer in a Twenty20 women’s international. Deepika Rasangika has never scored a century in T20I. Deepika Rasangika single-handedly hit 31 fours (a personal best of 20 earlier in an innings) and that too is an all-time record.

Deepika Rasangika didn’t give up after batting, she also took three wickets for nine runs with the ball in hand. There is no precedent for men and women to have three wickets after scoring more than 150 runs in all T20s. Deepika Rasangika is also the first in this regard. She was the first cricketer for Bahrain to score a century in WT20Is and her total score was the highest single score in a WT20I match.

Chris Gayle, known as Universe Boss, has the most runs in Twenty20 cricket, the highest singles score of any player in the format, and the most sixes and fours in the format. However, it is doubtful anyone would be able to beat such an impressive record in Twenty20 cricket. In 20-20 cricket, Afghanistan holds the record for most runs in an innings with 278 for three. This record was set against Ireland in 2019. But today a major record was set in Women’s Twenty20 cricket.

The Bahraini women, with the help of Deepika Rasangika, set a world record for most runs in a single innings

The record was set by Bahrain’s women’s cricket team, not just one of cricket’s most popular nations. Bahrain will face Saudi Arabia on Tuesday (March 22) in the Golf Cup Women’s Twenty20 Championship in the United Arab Emirates. After winning the draw, Saudi captain Cheryl Siusankar challenged Bahrain to bat first. Bahrain lost opener Rashika Rodrigo in the fifth over. Then the torture. Opener Tharanga Gajanay played 94 of 56 balls unbeaten. On the other hand, Deepika Rasangika made an unbeaten 161 from 66 balls. Bahrain made a total of 318 runs to lose a wicket in the 20 overs allotted, which is the highest international T20 score.

Looking at the scorecard, it seems like there was a flurry of sixes in the game. Interestingly, the Bahraini stars didn’t hit a single six in those innings. Hit a total of 50 fours (up from 34), which is the record for most four hits in a match. In response, the Saudi cricketers could not even surpass the 50-run mark in their allotted 20 overs. They scored 49 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Bahrain won the match by 269 runs.
