Dedan Thomas Jr., the top 5 point guard, is committed to UNLV basketball

Four-star point guard Dedan Thomas Jr. of Liberty, Nev. announced his commitment to UNLV On Sunday afternoon. His father also played for UNLV for three seasons in the early 90’sa total of 540 points in 85 games.
12 others Programs extended offers to Thomas, including favorites Arizona, Gonzaga, UCLA and Florida.
The Scouting report on Thomas von On3 praises his confidence and his ability to find the right balance between aggressiveness and patience.
“Dedan Thomas is a confident, exhilarating lead guard. He plays with an excellent pace and understands when to push and when to back off. With him nothing presses, he is supple. Size is the question mark, both strength and height. He’s a player you can trust when you have the ball in his hands. A solid athlete, quick rather than impulsive…”
In the film, guarding Thomas in a one-on-one competition looks like a nightmare as he displays excellent ball handling skills and a rare powerful left attack.

According to the composite rankings, Thomas (1.85 m, 170 lbs) is No. 4 on its positionFirst overall in Nevada and No. 31 nationally in its class.
Thomas is the first tough assignment for UNLV’s 2024 recruiting class.
