Dancing With the Stars took on James Bond for its third week, with each couple dancing to songs that have been featured in Bond films over the years.
Selma Blair and Sasha Farber have been in the spotlight all season, but it hasn’t been an easy journey. She admitted this week that she gets sensory overload with the lights and the crowd every week. To help with this week’s rumba, Farber blindfolded her and she danced beautifully to Sheena Easton’s “For Your Eyes Only.” Len Goodman said she had “great control” despite her multiple sclerosis and the blindfold.
“It helped me block out some of the noise. I get real sensory overload and close my eyes a lot so this was a gift but can also be quite confusing but really exciting. I loved it and I love Sasha,” she explained before receiving her score.
Farber explained, “The whole point for the blindfold was that when I see Selma, there’s a brain-to-body disconnect, she tends to close her eyes. When she learns a step and cannot control her body, she closes her eyes. So I wanted her to be as comfortable as possible on the dance floor. We tried it. It worked. It was a gamble and I’m so proud of her.”
Before elimination, there was a three-way tie at the top of the leaderboard. Charli D’Amelio and Mark Ballas’ sensual rumba resulted in judge Bruno Tonioli handing out the top 9 of the season and they earned 33 out of 40. Later in the night Wayne Brady and Whitney Carson and Gabby Windey and Val Chmerkovskiy received the same score of three 8s and a 9.
Sam Champion and Cheryl Burke finished in the last two alongside Cheryl Ladd and Louis van Amstel. Ultimately, Champion and Burke were rescued and Ladd and Van Amstel were sent home.
