Dallas police arrest 2 in shooting-related after allegedly interrogating Kelvin Joseph by Cowboys

Dallas police have arrested two men in connection with the March shooting of 20-year-old Cameron Ray, they said on Saturday, a day after Dallas Cowboys cornerback Kelvin Joseph met with police about the incident.

Aries Jones, 28, and Tivione English, 21, of Baton Rouge, La., turned themselves in to Dallas police on Saturday and were taken to the Dallas County Jail, police said.

Ray was shot dead on March 18 after an altercation. According to reports, Joseph appeared in surveillance footage to be near the scene of the shooting.

Joseph was a passenger in a vehicle from which shots were fired that killed Ray, but he was not the shooter, his attorney Barry Sorrels told The Dallas Morning News on Friday.

“Kelvin Joseph did not kill Cameron Ray,” Sorrels said in the statement. “[Kelvin]found himself in a situation that escalated without his knowledge or consent.”

The Cowboys said in a statement Friday that the organization was aware of the incident.

“First and foremost, our hearts go out to Mr. Ray’s family and loved ones,” the team said. “The organization is aware of Kelvin Joseph’s possible connection to this incident. We are in contact with Dallas law enforcement and have notified the NFL office. We have no further comment at this time.”

The NFL said on Friday that the matter would be reviewed under its personal conduct policy.

Joseph, 22, who played in Kentucky and at LSU, was selected by the Cowboys in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He played in 16 games and recorded 13 solo tackles and two passes defended.
