Publisher CD Projekt announced Thursday at a financial call that the first expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 is currently in development and is scheduled for release in 2023.
Along with the announcement of continued support for the game and the upcoming launch of a spin-off from Gwent: The Witcher card gamethe company stated that development work on the recently delayed next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and the new untitled Witcher game will continue through 2022.
Cyberpunk 2077 was launched to mixed response at the game’s release in December 2020, with several reviews citing game-changing glitches, bugs, and other issues impacting performance.
Developer CD Projekt Red has spent the past year releasing patches aimed at fixing the above issues, with little new content except for additional purchasable apartments, weapons, and UI fixes. This new expansion, currently untitled, represents the first full content for Cyberpunk 2077 since the release of the game.
Polygon recently reviewed the next-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077 after the release of update 1.5 of the game. In the review, Cameron Kunzelman explained that Cyberpunk 2077″is a pretty good game now”, with the core ideas behind the game being “good enough to pass the time, but not enough to be really great, or even a substantive look at the genre the game sticks to .”
