Cute blind old dog rescued from dog fights is just looking for a home to spend his last days

Despite his gentle name, “Souffle” has lived a hard life, and his sad story is engraved on his body.

He is blind, old and was rescued from a fight ring where he was probably still used as a breeder.

Souffle was rescued along with 33 other dogs in Pennsylvania from an arrest involving drugs, guns and other alleged crimes involving a convicted dog fighter. news week reported earlier this month.

“Some of the dogs were outside with heavy chains and the rest were stacked in boxes in a garage,” Gillian Kocher, a spokeswoman for the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), told Newsweek.

“[Souffle] was no longer fit to fight, but we believe he was still used for breeding purposes.

“Unfortunately, dog fights are not uncommon,” Kocher continued. “There are a variety of types of fights that occur. From the casual street fights of the occasion to organized, multi-state attended fights.

“We see the full Gambit in PA and are doing everything we can to fight it and put an end to it, but we are limited by the resources we have.”

Souffle wasn’t the only blind dog rescued at the removal, and vets believe he lost his sight due to under- or untreated eye injuries.

Luckily, Souffle was rescued from his terrible situation and has adapted very well to family life as he is being cared for by a foster family who have a lot of good things to say about him.

“Souffle is a very sweet older boy who loves napping and getting pets from his humans,” he said family wrote on Facebook.

“This guy loves his treats as much as he loves attention. Souffle gets along well with other dogs and would do well in a home with another low energy pet.

“Because Souffle is blind he needs help walking, he can climb stairs but not good at climbing stairs. Souffle is a really good dog who just wants to spend the rest of his days giving and receiving as much love as possible.”

To that end, the Pennsylvania SPCA, unsure of Souffle’s age, is looking for someone special or family to give Souffle the best twilight weeks, months, or years a dog could ask for.

Hopefully after all the ugliness Souffle has endured, someone will come forward and show them just how good they are and how kind people can be.
