The Chicago Cubs and the Cincinnati Reds will play in the Field of Dreams game and two players will be mic’ed to make the game even better.
Joey Votto and Ian Happ will be mic’d, making the game even more iconic – and it comes with a twist as players will be wearing two-way mics.
The Field of Dreams game began last season with the Chicago White Sox and the New York Yankees. Corresponding MLB.com“The ‘MLB at Field of Dreams’ game was the first major league game ever held in the fan favorite spot and state of Iowa.”
Fans already feel nostalgic when remembering the film, so now they’ll have an even more special experience when Votto and Happ are miked.
The game is just as special for the players.
The Field of Dreams game is special this season for Cubs and Reds players
MLB released a graphic last season announcing the Cubs and Reds for the 2022 Field of Dreams game, including some players from each team.
Cubs hitter Patrick Wisdom said MLB.com in response, “People started sending me that. I thought, ‘Wait, really?’ That kind of surprised me. I’m super excited. I think this is going to be really fun.”
The game will certainly be worth seeing. Cubs manager David Ross told MLB.com, “I’m looking forward to playing in the cornfields in Iowa. That’s cool. I think it’s really neat. I think anyone who grew up – especially in my generation and era – and saw that movie would be a really cool moment.”
