Newell Beach, in far north Queensland, is a popular spot among locals despite its reputation as well-known crocodile country.

Everyone is urged to be “crocwise” in the area and expect crocodiles in all waters, even though there are no warning signs.

Crocodiles are also known to swim in the ocean and people are urged to be extra careful near the water at night.
