Bellator 279: Cris Cyborg vs. Arlene Blencowe 2 Live Scores and Highlights

Bellator 279 is the second of two cards on consecutive nights at the Neal S. Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu and features a women’s featherweight title rematch, the homecoming of a former flyweight champion and the official opener of the Bellator Bantamweight Grand Prix – what was an interim title fight contains.

Bellator 279 is led by Cris Justino (aka Cris Cyborg) defending her featherweight belt against Arlene Blencowe. The two previously fought in October 2020 at Bellator 249, a fight where Justino scored her first submission win of her MMA career.

Since then, Justino – who won the featherweight title in her promotional debut against Julia Budd at Bellator 238 – has made successful defenses against Leslie Smith and Sinead Kavanagh.

Blencowe has since bounced back from the initial loss to Justino with a finish from Dayana Silva and a decision win over Pam Sorenson.

Bellator 279 will also feature Raufeon Stots and Juan Archuleta battling to become interim Bellator Bantamweight Champion as part of the Bantamweight Grand Prix. The fight was originally supposed to see Stots meet the champion – his teammate and friend Sergio Pettis – but Pettis was sidelined from the fight and tournament with a cruciate ligament rupture.

The injury and provisional title also necessitated the promotion of Justino vs. Blencowe 2 to the main event slot.

At 17-1, Stots has won all five of his Bellator fights in extremely convincing fashion, most recently defeating rival Magomed Magomedov at Bellator 264.

Archuleta captured the then-vacant bantamweight title with a comeback decision victory over Patchy Mix, but lost the strap in his first defense against Pettis at Bellator 258.

Bellator 279 will also feature another Grand Prix fight in Mix against Kyoji Horiguchi, the current RIZIN Bantamweight Champion and another former Bellator Bantamweight Champion, as well as action from the former Bellator Women’s Flyweight Champion and the one from Hawaii originating Ilima-Lei Macfarlane offer.
