‘Could have crashed a few cars’ – Rose Namajunas claims she would have ended up worse than Jon Jones if she had become the youngest UFC champion – FirstSportz


Rose Namajunas offers her candid take on Jon Jones! Jones is one of the most notorious champions in UFC history. Jon holds the record for being the organization’s youngest champion and he also holds the record for most title defenses. The former light heavyweight champion has had trouble with the cops in the past and is looking to start a new chapter in his life with his heavyweight debut.
Jones was arrested for getting into a car with a pregnant woman and fleeing the scene. World women’s strawweight champion Rose Namajunas had a chance to become the youngest-ever UFC champion in her bout Carla Esparza. Rose came up short that night and Carla became the champion.
Namajunas got up and climbed their way back to win that championship. Looking back on her career, she believes everything went for the best and she would have ended up worse than Jones had she won that night. In conversation with Ariel Helwani further The MMA lessonShe said, “If I had won that fight, who knows where I would be. I would be the youngest champion, younger than Jon Jones. Not definitely, but I can only imagine that if I had won a fight like this, I probably would have crashed a few cars or done all sorts of bad things at this point in my life. My life probably would have gotten a lot more out of control.”

Rose had a rough childhood, and she was particularly rebellious, to say the least. She believes her loss to Carla has taught her a lot, “I wouldn’t go back and change something for nothing” said Namajunas. “That fight was probably the best thing that’s happened to me in my entire career. All my losses have worked wonders for me. But with this one in particular, there was a lot of information that I downloaded.”

Rose found herself in a pretty bad situation, and when she decided to pursue her love of MMA, she made a life-changing decision. “It just got really dangerous” She said. “I’ve had a few different wake-up calls. You come out of a situation and you’re like, “Wow, I could have died, or someone else could have died,” or really bad stuff. Not everyone is lucky enough to have that moment of clarity to say, ‘Okay, I have to stop messing around here because not only is my life at risk, but other people’s as well.’”
