Cory McKenna makes history with the Von Flue Choke

Cory McKenna marks her place in UFC history with her assist from Miranda Granger during the UFC Vegas 59 preliminary rounds

After a cumbersome submission, the first fight ended on the ufc Vega 59 front matterwe have a clear ending in the second fight – as well as some UFC history.

McKenna scored a submission from Miranda Granger in the second round and secured her win with the Von Flue choke. This makes McKenna the first woman in UFC history to win with such a choke.

McKenna was able to sidestep a 10″ range disadvantage by focusing on tripping Granger up during the fight.

That’s exactly what she did on the second round, despite Granger’s arm around her neck. There on the ground, McKenna won the transition fights and managed to block Granger’s arms and pressure with her shoulder, forcing McKenna to tap her feet.
