Conor McGregor says he knew his leg could be broken ahead of Dustin Poirier, feels the rivalry remains unresolved

Conor McGregor know he’s on his trio with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 with an injured leg that could have been broken during the fight.
In a series of Twitter posts on Wednesday, McGregor said his leg had been damaged leading up to the July fight and had spent a lot of time in training camp doing back exercises.
“During my last camping trip, I seriously injured my left leg. Many of my sessions include starting in an open bottom guard. And stay there. All the remaining loops are at the bottom. I beat people up until they backed away from me. It was then translated into war. True story,” the former UFC two-division champion wrote.

When McGregor’s leg was broken in the closing seconds of the opening round, the Irishman was not surprised.
“Same foot, same place. I suppose that’s why I’m not as shocked as Chris/Anderson. I knew in advance something could happen. Chris was annoyed with my statement. Feels like I’m aiming for him. I did not. If any of the constellations reacted to my response, it’s because the id is up, it could be faulty,” McGregor tweeted.

Despite breaking his leg and losing to Poirier a second time, “The Notorious” feels like he succeeded in the three-part match, especially on the ground after being knocked out by Poirier.
“His head is closer, my legs are closer. I feel good about that. Doesn’t mean his leg isn’t broken either. I minced that thigh. I feel it is simply unresolved. Is the fairest response I can give,” he said.

In a follow-up tweet, McGregor posted a video showing the wound on Poirier’s forehead after the fight. He also vowed to return and fix the score “once and for all.”
“Definitely the elbow is really annoying and fidgeting. That or maybe a really nasty blue bottle was around him after the fight, lol. Don’t make the mistake of not expecting what’s to come. I will come back and it will be solved. One and forever. ”
