CONCORD (BCN) – The Concord City Council will decide Tuesday whether to allow a retail cannabis store to move into the Park & Shop strip mall.
Santa Barbara-based Coastal Retail wants to occupy 1847 Willow Pass Road, becoming the third cannabis retail store in Concord. The city passed an ordinance in 2020 allowing three such adult-only establishments in the city, along with manufacturers, non-store retailers, distributors, and small businesses.
The city received 21 proposals for permits that restrict their storefronts. Coastal was one of three selected, along with the authentic Concord and Cultural Club Enterprise.
The planning committee formally proposed the project in December, sending it to the council for final approval. The committee said the council should clarify a number of things, such as health care benefits, employment agreements and change of ownership issues.
Concord City Council meets at 6:30 p.m. and the session can be streamed online on the city’s website. People can also join via Zoom, at https://bit.ly/3AtFf6B (Webinar ID: 852 0909 3884, password 286725).
