Conan O’Brien Ends New York Mets Season Before It Begins

Conan O’Brien certainly doesn’t believe the New York Mets will have any meaningful success in 2022 and he has made his thoughts clear on the matter.

It doesn’t matter that the season hasn’t started yet. It doesn’t matter that New York Mets Yes make some cool moves. It doesn’t matter that Buck Showalter has taken over as Mets manager and will lead the team this season. It certainly doesn’t matter if MLB extends the knockout round.

Conan O’Brien doesn’t seem to care about that. He wants you to know that the Mets will still miss the knockout stages this season. Probably.

Probably. At least he believes the Mets are not going anywhere and having any fun this year. Whether that’s fair or even a remotely accurate assessment of the problem is another matter entirely.

It’s a bit harsh, but has a bit of history to back up the scaling.

New York Mets: Conan O’Brien closes Mets before 2022 season

Unfortunately for the New Yorkers, the Mets haven’t made it to the knockout stages for several years. The last time the Mets were able to participate in a post-season game was in 2016 when the Mets were knocked out of the knockout stages, losing to the San Francisco Giants 3-0 in the Wild Card Game.

Since 2000, the Mets have reached the knockout stages a total of four times. Interestingly, the Mets made it to the World Finals on those two occasions. But just because New York made it to the World Series doesn’t mean they have a lot of fun trying to win it all. Both of those World Series trips ended in 4-1 defeats for the Mets.

So yeah, that tweet was kind of atrocious. But maybe this year will be different. Perhaps the Mets will have some success after this season. Probably? Conan O’Brien Ends New York Mets Season Before It Begins
